Our Story

Megan and Ian met up at a coffee shop on November 1st, 2018 and hit it off quickly. The conversation flowed easily; from the beginning they felt comfortable around each other. They discovered their many shared interests and experiences, similar taste in movies and tv shows, and their common faith.

At the end of the date they planned to meet up again in 2 days, and that date went well. They met again a few days after that. And a few days after that. It was not long before the two of them were inseparable, spending as much time together as they could. Even though they had only recently met, the two felt like they had known each other for years. November turned into December, and Christmas came. Finally, on one cold winter night after visiting the Rhema Christmas lights, Ian told Megan that he loved her, and she responded in kind.

The months that followed were wonderful, though filled with trials. One of Ian’s brothers fell gravely ill during that time, and it made for a tough winter and spring as Ian tried to help his family as much as he could. Megan was there the whole time, offering encouraging words, traveling with Ian as he went to visit every weekend he could, and spending time with Ian in prayer. During those months, Megan and Ian chatted about their futures, about their desires to get married and start a life together. They both wanted to marry each other, but also wanted to wait until after Megan finished her PhD program that Spring. By the end of February Ian had purchased an engagement ring. A ring that burned a hole in his pocket until the time was right.

Finally, on May 1st, the couple set aside a whole day to celebrate 6 months together. They went to brunch, the aquarium, and finally finished the day at a friend’s cabin where Ian had his friend Will set up a cozy dinner for the two of them. On the way to the cabin, Ian’s car got stuck in the mud! After a short detour working together to get the car unstuck and finally having to call a tow truck, the two finally sat down for dinner. After dinner, Ian and Megan spent time reminiscing about their times together before Ian proposed, and Megan said yes!

And that leads us to today, and to you. We hope you are able to make it to the wedding on November 2nd as our main characters start this next chapter in their story.
